About Priya Velan

Priya Velan is the founder of QEHBS Limited, a published academic author and 11+ English specialist with more than a decade of experience preparing pupils for QE, HBS and other highly selective schools.

She is the author of the dedicated HBS Stage 2 practice range published by Exam Papers Plus , her HBS R2 papers are a leading reliable study ranges for HBS Round Two, an examination for which authentic, specialist preparation material is exceptionally limited. Alongside this, she has written many other English and 11+ resources used by tutors, pupils and families through different publishers and educational platforms. This gives her an author’s understanding of how sophisticated questions, convincing distractors and high-level responses are constructed.

With qualifications including Cambridge C1 Advanced, TOEFL and IELTS, Priya also brings the analytical precision of her earlier career as a software engineer. She combines advanced subject knowledge with a clear understanding of how nine- and ten-year-olds read, reason and perform under pressure.

As a parent whose own children attended Henrietta Barnett School and Queen Elizabeth’s School , Priya also understands the 11+ journey from a family’s perspective. She knows when to stretch a pupil, when to protect confidence and how to adjust the pace and intensity without losing sight of wellbeing.

Her teaching methodology, now offered by all our QEHBS teaching staff , is a flagship system that has contributed to multiple 141/141 QE English scores , outstanding QE and HBS outcomes and the educational journeys of hundreds of children over more than a decade.
